Selected Bios

Rishi Krishnamurthy

 

Rishi started studying Tabla under Annie Penta and has been learning under the guidance of Kuntal Roy and Manoj Biswas since 2008. Rishi also loves to play the piano, swim, unicycle and play soccer.

   

Manoj Biswas

 

Manoj Biswas is a promising Tabla player based in Seattle. He studies Tabla with Sri. Kuntal Roy, a student of Pt. Shankar Ghosh and with Sri. Vishal Nagar. He performs regularly in Seattle and the northwest as an accompanist for both classical and light music programs. He holds a masters degree in Computer Science and is presently employed at Microsoft Corporation.

   
Shailendra Upadhye
Shailendra started learning tabla around 2006 from Shri Kuntal Roy & has been thoroughly enjoying the learning process. He has also been taking vocal training from Dr. Sharad Gadre of Seattle. He enjoys learning both the classical and light aspects of music. He is active in arranging classical concerts in the Seattle area as well as participates in light-classical programs. Apart from music, he has Masters in Electronics Design & works in
Information Technology.
   
Chinmay Upadhye
Chinmay has been learning tabla from Shri Manoj Biswas and Shri Kuntal Roy for since 2006. He enjoys the lessons and practice sessions with his friends and is looking forward to performing in front of an appreciative audience. Although he sometimes prefers cartoons over practices, he is beginning to get better at tabla due to the strict practice regime of his teachers.
   

Sahil Thaker

 

Sahil has been studying tabla since 2008 under the tutelage of Sri. Kuntal Roy. On a mission to 'understand' rhythm, he is gaining thorough appreciation of rhythmic expressions through his studies in tabla. Besides tabla, he loves to try his hand at dhol, drums, djembe and other percussion instruments.
